TL;DR: Alabobai is execution-first software. Your AI conversations, documents, and data are processed on your machine and are never sent to our servers unless you explicitly choose to use cloud features. We collect minimal telemetry (which you can disable), and we never sell your data.

1. Our Privacy Philosophy

Alabobai is built on the principle that AI should serve you without surveilling you. Unlike most AI platforms, Alabobai runs primarily on your local machine. This means:

Your conversations stay local. Chat history, prompts, and AI responses are stored on your device in encrypted files. We never see them.
Your documents are never uploaded. When you use Local AI Brain or Data Analyst, your files are indexed and processed locally. No document content is transmitted to any server.
Your models run on your hardware. When using Ollama or other local inference engines, all AI processing happens on your CPU/GPU. Zero cloud dependency.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Account Information

If you create an Alabobai account (required for Pro and Team plans), we collect:

Email address
Name (optional)
Payment information (processed by Stripe; we never store full card numbers)
Plan type and billing history

2.2 Usage Telemetry (Optional)

By default, Alabobai collects anonymous usage telemetry to help us improve the product. This includes:

Feature usage counts (e.g., "Code Sandbox used 5 times this week")
Error reports and crash logs
Performance metrics (startup time, model load time)
Operating system and hardware category (e.g., "macOS, Apple Silicon")

You can disable telemetry entirely by running alabobai config set telemetry false or toggling it off in Settings. We respect your choice with zero nagging.

2.3 What We Never Collect

Your AI conversations, prompts, or responses
Your documents, files, or indexed content
Your clipboard data
Your voice recordings or transcriptions
Your search queries in Deep Research
Your code or code execution results

3. Cloud Features

Some optional features require cloud connectivity:

Cloud API routing: If you choose to use cloud LLMs (GPT-4o, Claude, Gemini), your prompts are sent to those providers under their respective privacy policies. Alabobai does not store or log these requests.
Deep Research web access: When researching, your queries are used to fetch web content. Search queries are not logged on our servers.
Account sync (Team plan): Team configuration and preferences can be synced across devices. No conversation data is included.

4. Data Storage & Security

All local data is encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM. Your encryption key is derived from your system credentials using Argon2id and never leaves your machine.

For account data stored on our servers:

Hosted on SOC 2 Type II certified infrastructure
Encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256)
Access restricted to essential personnel with audit logging
Regular penetration testing and security audits

5. Third-Party Services

We use a minimal set of third-party services:

Stripe — Payment processing (Stripe Privacy Policy)
Plausible Analytics — Privacy-focused website analytics, no cookies (Plausible Privacy Policy)
Postmark — Transactional email (account confirmations, receipts)

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising trackers.

6. Cookies

The Alabobai website uses minimal cookies:

Essential cookies: Session authentication and CSRF protection. Required for the site to function.
Preference cookies: Your theme choice and language preference. Optional.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party cookies. The desktop application does not use cookies at all.

You can manage cookies in your browser settings. Since we only use essential and preference cookies, there's nothing to "opt out" of — we simply don't track you.

7. Your Rights

Regardless of your location, you have the right to:

Access — Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
Deletion — Request deletion of your account and all associated data
Portability — Export your data in a machine-readable format
Correction — Update or correct your personal information
Objection — Opt out of telemetry at any time

Alabobai complies with GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable privacy regulations. Our execution-first architecture means most data processing happens on your device and is outside the scope of data transfer regulations. For the minimal server-side data we process, our legal basis is:

Contract performance — Account management and service delivery
Legitimate interest — Anonymous telemetry (with opt-out)
Consent — Marketing communications (opt-in only)

9. Children's Privacy

Alabobai is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@alabobai.com.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email and in-app notification at least 30 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision.
